Linda Sagnelli Named ECAC Division I Volleyball Coach of the Year
Sagnelli guided the Blue Devils to a share of the NEC regular-season title.
Central Connecticut volleyball head coach Linda Sagnelli was named the ECAC Division I Volleyball Coach of the Year it was announced on Thursday morning. Sagnelli recently completed her 18th season in charge of the CCSU program and helped the squad to a share of the Northeast Conference regular-season title.
Sagnelli guided the Blue Devils to an 19-8 overall record and a share of the NEC regular-season title with an 11-3 mark. Central advanced to the championship game of the NEC Tournament before falling in five sets to LIU Brooklyn. Sagnelli was named the NEC Coach of the Year for the fourth time after steering the Blue Devils to a share of the regular-season title for the first time since 2003. Sagnelli has won 294 games at Central and 420 overall. Sagnelli's team has also been honored with the AVCA Team Academic Award for the past 11 years.
Central's 19 wins were its most since the 2013 season. The Blue Devils were the conference's top defensive team and had four student-athletes earn Second Team All-NEC recognition, while setting multiple team and individual records throughout the season.
