Volleyball Wins at Fairleigh Dickinson, 3-1
Central went 2-0 on the weekend and has won three of its last four matches.
The Central Connecticut volleyball team won at Fairleigh Dickinson, 3-1, on Saturday afternoon in Hackensack, NJ. The Blue Devils won by scores of 21-25, 25-20, 25-23, 25-21 to improve to 10-6 on the season and 3-2 in the Northeast Conference.
Freshman Samantha McCreath (10 kills, 15 digs) and sophomore Erin McDermott (25 assists, 17 digs) each posted double-doubles for Central.
The Knights took the first set, but CCSU came back to win the next three sets. In the second set, the Blue Devils broke a 14-14 tie and would hold the lead the rest of the frame, eventually pushing the cushion to four points before winning 25-20.
CCSU trailed 18-12 in the third set before scoring six unanswered points to tie the set. The Blue Devils scored the final three points to close it out, including an ace by freshman Ashlyn Eisenga.
Central closed out the fourth set on a 4-1 run to take the set 25-21 and win the match, 3-1.
Sophomore Madelyn Kaprelyan had a team-high 14 kills, while sophomore Morgan Woycik and freshman Emma Henderson each finished with 13 kills. Senior Lindsey Massicotte had a team-high 28 digs and junior Kaitlyn Kushman had 24 assists.
The Blue Devils are back in action at home on Friday, Oct. 13, against Saint Francis U at 7:00 p.m.
