Schwab Named Molten/NEC Defensive Player of the Week
Blue Devils are back in action on Saturday at home against Fairleigh Dickinson
Senior Brooke Schwab of the Central Connecticut volleyball team was named the Molten/Northeast Conference Defensive Player of the Week it was announced on Monday by the league. Schwab helped the Blue Devils to their third straight conference win as the team improved to 8-7 on the season.
Schwab picked up her second weekly NEC honor this season after helping Central Connecticut to a 3-0 win over Bryant on Friday. She posted six blocks in the match as the Blue Devils moved to 3-0 in league action. Schwab set the tone with three blocks in the first set and helped limit Bryant to a .131 hitting percentage for the match. Schwab currently sits second on the Blue Devils with 1.04 blocks per set. Schwab was named Molten/NEC Player of the Week on August 29. She added nine kills and hit .615 for the match in the win over the Bulldogs.
Schwab has helped the Blue Devils to their first 3-0 start in Northeast Conference play since the 2009 season. Central is back in action on Saturday, October 8, when it hosts Fairleigh Dickinson at 1:00 p.m.
