Fish Earns Northeast Conference Weekly Volleyball Award

Senior Rachel Fish was recognized by the Northeast Conference for helping the Central Connecticut volleyball team to a pair of victories in conference play it was announced on Monday. Fish and the Blue Devils were victorious at defending league champion, Robert Morris, and at Saint Francis U. over the weekend. The wins improved CCSU to 7-7 on the year and 2-0 in NEC play.
Fish's defensive efforts helped Central Connecticut to a sweep on the team's annual western Pennsylvania swing. The senior's 28 digs in a 3-2 triumph over Saint Francis U on Sunday tied her season-high. She opened the weekend with 27 digs in another five-set marathon win over Robert Morris on Saturday. She helped CCSU limit Saint Francis U to a .127 hitting percentage and Robert Morris to a .173 hitting percentage. Fish ranks third in the NEC with 4.24 digs per set this season.
She recorded 55 digs total - an average of 5.5 per set - to up her career total to 1,190 during her time in New Britain. She now ranks fifth all-time on the career digs list at CCSU.
The Blue Devils are back in action Friday, September 30, against Bryant. CCSU will host the match in Detrick Gymnasium at 6:00 p.m.
