Volleyball Hosts Blue Devil Classic to Open 2015 Season
Blue Devils welcome Fairfield, NJIT and Bucknell for season-opening tournament.
The Central Connecticut volleyball team is set to open the 2015 season at Detrick Gymnasium with the Blue Devil Classic on Friday and Saturday. The Blue Devils will play Fairfield on Friday at 4 p.m. to open the two-day tournament, while NJIT and Bucknell will play at 7 p.m. The event will continue with four matches on Saturday.

Central was tabbed second in the preseason Northeast Conference coaches poll and will be seeking its 13th straight appearance in the league's postseason tournament. Head coach Linda Sagnelli will begin her 16th season at the helm and welcomes back an experienced roster led by two-time First Team All-NEC selection Makenna Lommori. The Blue Devils also welcome back senior outside hitter Heather Trueman and classmate Ashley Lenington, who each led the team in kills per set (3.24) and assists (514), respectively. Junior Brooke Schwab started all 27 matches, while classmate Rachel Fish recorded a team-high 352 digs.
The Blue Devil Classic is the first of two home tournaments for CCSU in 2015. The CCSU Invitational will be held at Detrick Gymnasium on September 18 and 19.
