Volleyball Tops St. Francis Brooklyn on the Road
The Blue Devils are now 2-2 in league play this season
The Central Connecticut volleyball team went five sets and moved to 2-2 in Northeast Conference play this season with a 3-2 road victory over St. Francis Brooklyn on Saturday afternoon. With the victory the Blue Devils are now 6-10 overall and 2-2 in league action. St. Francis is now 2-18 and 0-4 in the league with the loss.
The Blue Devils lost the first set 25-23 before rebounding to win set two, 25-13. St. Francis answered with a 25-22 win in set three before the Blue Devils took control of the match in the final two sets. They won set four 25-20, and set five 15-11 to win their second conference match of the season.
Junior Makenna Lommori led the offense with 26 kills and only nine errors to hit .250 in the match. Junior Ashley Lenington had a career-high 50 assists for the offense. Central hit .327 in the match and had 61 assists on 73 kills. Lommori added six digs and a pair of block assists.
Senior Rachel Dunlap had 22 kills, just three errors, and hit an impressive .655. She had 22 kills on just 29 attempts.
Sophomore Brooke Schwab had 11 kills, 11 digs and five block assists. The Blue Devils had three solo blocks and 16 block assists in the match. They also added 74 digs, led by 25 from sophomore Rachel Fish and 13 from senior Brittany Schumacher.
