Blue Devils Fall in Five Sets
The Central Connecticut women's volleyball team fell to Robert Morris in a dramatic five set match on Saturday afternoon. The Blue Devils (5-9, 1-1 NEC) dropped the first two sets before roaring back to force a decisive fifth set with the Colonials (4-13, 3-0 NEC).

The Blue Devils fell 27-25 and 25-16 in the first two sets before winning the third and fourth sets 25-17 and 25-23. Robert Morris won the fifth set 15-9 after jumping out to leads of 5-1 and 12-5.
CCSU had five hitters post double-digit kills in the match with sophomore Cassidy Stankowski and senior Rachel Dunlap leading the way with 12. Junior Makenna Lommori and sophomore Nicole Dean each recorded 11 kills and sophomore Brooke Schwab posted 10.
Both teams were strong at the net on defense with Robert Morris posting 18 blocks and the Blue Devils 11.
Dunlap led CCSU's blockers with nine, including a pair of solo blocks and seven assists. Freshman Nicole Celarek finished second on the team with four block assists.
Sophomore Rachel Fish led all players with a game-high 20 digs. She was joined in double-digits by Lommori and senior Brittany Schumacher who both had 11.
Lommori posted a triple-double with 48 assists to go along with 11 digs and 11 kills.
Lommori also eclipsed 2,500 career assists during the fifth set.
RMU's Leah Dunivan led all players with 13 kills and the Colonials' Becky Jay had 11 total blocks to lead that category.
The Blue Devils will return to action on Sunday against Saint Francis U. That match is scheduled for a 1 p.m. start inside Detrick Gymnasium and is also available to watch live on NECFrontRow.com.
