Dunlap Earns NEC Weekly Honor

Senior Rachel Dunlap earned Molten/NEC Defensive Player of the Week honors for the third time this season.

Central Connecticut women's volleyball senior Rachel Dunlap was named Molten/Northeast Conference Defensive Player of the Week on Monday afternoon.  Dunlap led the Blue Devils in a four set victory over NEC foe Bryant on Saturday.  The weekly award is her third of the 2014 season.

Dunlap continued to dominate the net on defense as she posted six total blocks in the Blue Devils 3-1 defeat of Bryant. Entering  the weekend, Dunlap averaged 1.17 blocks per set, but turned in 1.50 blocks per set against the Bulldogs. Dunlap contributed to six of the Blue Devils nine blocks as a team. Dunlap also had three digs in the match.

On offense she added 11 kills and .304 hitting percentage

The Blue Devils will host a pair of matches at Detrick Gym this weekend.  CCSU will play Robert Morris on Saturday and Saint Francis U on Sunday.  Both matches will begin at 1 p.m.
