Women's Track and Field Finished Third at AIC Invite

CCSU women's track and field competed at the American International College Yellowjacket Invitational this weekend in Springfield, MA. The Blue Devils snagged four first-place finishes and placed third overall with 125.5 points. 

RESULTS 

TRACK HIGHLIGHTS 

• Kaylee Gravel finished second in the 1,500m race with a personal best time of 4:59.37. 

• Kamilah Diaz took fourth in the 400m dash, crossing the finish line in 1:03.38 

• Christianna Morley competed in the 400 hurdles, finishing in 1:13.46 (personal best) to take fifth place. 

• Juliana Cancellieri (19:02.55) and Alyssa Carusone (20:02.49 - personal best) snagged fourth and sixth, respectively, in the 5,000m race. 

• Ashley Dana won the 800m race with a time of 2:13.08. Gravel wasn't far behind and managed to take the third-place spot (2:25.38). 

• Maegan Desmarais won the 3,000m steeplechase with a new personal best time of 11:26.62, finishing almost 20 seconds ahead of the second-place finisher. Alexandria Klopfer also collected a new best time, finishing third in 12:28.65. 

• Central's 4x100m relay (50.53) and 4x400m relay (4:26.58) both took third-place finishes. 

FIELD HIGHLIGHTS 

• Abigail Burgess won the long jump, leaping for 5.16m. Erin Egan (5.02m) and Aaliyah Walker (4.83m) also finished in the top five, placing third and fifth respectively. 

• Walker won the triple jump with a 10.75m effort. 

• Marina Perry put up two collegiate-best performances, earning second in the discus throw (35.09m) and third in the hammer throw (40.89m). 

UP NEXT 

The Blue Devils will head to Amherst, MA to compete at the Flagship Spring Opener hosted by the University of Massachusetts next weekend. The meet with take place at the UMass Track and Field Complex.
