Rafter Adds Another Victory to Belt, Women's Track and Field Impresses at NEIC
Central Connecticut women's cross country continued their impressive start to the season with a number of strong performances at the New England Intercollegiate Championships, held in Boston from Friday to Saturday. Angie Rafter grabbed yet another first place finish while Ashley Dana and Brooke Morabito each contributed second place finishes on the second day of competition.
DAY ONE
Kaitlyn Stevens secured a top ten finish in one of Friday's last events, finishing the women's 5000 in 18:33.41, a seventh place time.
DAY TWO
Rafter, who has been named Northeast Conference Athlete of the Week three out of four eligible weeks this season, showcased why the title is more than deserving. She won the women's 1 mile run in 4:44.96, a more than five second advantage over the second place finisher.
In the 1000 meter run, Dana was 5 hundreths of a second behind the first place finisher. Regardless, the senior who also has a number of golds to show for herself, placed second at 2:54.95.
Morabito placed second in the 3000 meter run with a 9:58.60 time.
Aaliyah Walker placed ninth in the women's triple jump on Saturday, stretching out for 10.77m.
