Nesmith Earns NEC Weekly Award
Nesmith won the gold in the 400m hurdles at the Colonial Relays last weekend.
Senior Sierra Nesmith was named the Northeast Conference Track Athlete of the Week, it was announced by the league's office Wednesday afternoon. Nesmith topped a 51-finisher field in the 400m hurdles at William & Mary's Colonial Relays.
The veteran Blue Devil completed the race in 1:01.83 to clip Loyola's Heather Merrifield for the gold. Nesmith's winning time, which is more than 1.0 second better than the automatic qualifying standard for the ECAC Championships, moved the Keystone State product into second place on the NEC leader board and into a top-75 spot in the NCAA Division I East Region.
The Blue Devils compete this Saturday in Storrs, CT at the Northeast Challenge hosted by UConn.
