Blue Devils Open Track and Field Season at Wagner
The men's and women's track team will compete in the Wagner College Invitational.
The Central Connecticut men's and women's track and field team will open the 2018-19 indoor season on Friday, Jan. 4 inside of Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex for the Wagner College Invitational in Staten Island, NY.
The women's indoor track and field team is coming off a fifth place finish at the 2018 Northeast Conference Championships. The Blue Devils received six medals and combined for a total score of 65 points. CCSU's senior McKenna Kilian won the NEC long jump title, marking the first time a Blue Devil won the event in program history. Last season at the Wagner Invitational, the team set four personal records in its first competition with the entire team of the season.
The men's indoor track team looks to pick up where it left off. Last season the Blue Devils won their second Northeast Conference Championship scoring the most points of a CCSU men's indoor team with 132 points. Central had an impressive 12 athletes medal at the 2018 NEC Title and outlasted the four-time defending champion LIU Brooklyn who finished as the runner-up with 110 points. Last time competing in the Wager Invite, CCSU's outstanding hurdle expert, senior Edwin Alston, earned a first place finish in the 60 meter hurdles with a time of 8.01 seconds.
