Women's Track and Field Competes at Miami and Yale on Saturday
Nesmith runs 1:01.83 in in 400 meter hurdles at Miami
The Central Connecticut women's track and field team competed at the Miami Hurricane Alumni Invitational and the Mark Young Invitational at Yale on Saturday.
At Miami, junior Sierra Nesmith finished in sixth place in the 400 meter intermediate hurdles with a time of 1:01.83. A pair of Blue Devils competed in the 100 meter high hurdles. Senior Melissa Wolliston finished 15th with a time of 14.49, while sophomore Hailey Rospierski was 18th in a time of 14.72. Junior McKenna Kilian was 12th overall in the heptathlon. Wollisten was 39th in the 200 meter dash in 25.98.
On Friday Rospierski finished ninth in the high jump with a height of 1.59 meters.
At Yale sophomore Erica Snape posted a second place finish in the 100 meter dash with a time of 12.64. She followed that up with a third place finish in the 200 meter dash, running 26.29. Classmate Ariana Taft was 14th in the 200 with a time of 28.13.
The Blue Devils finished 1-2 in the 800 meter finals as sophomore Megan Brawner finished first in a time of 2:17.09 and freshman Angie Rafter was second in 2:17.62. Freshman Kiley Rodriguez finished 12th in 2:28.56.
Senior Olivia Mondo finished 14th in the 1,500 meter run in a time of 5:13.96. Junior Morgan Ricci was 24th in 5:29.38 and freshman Kailyn Accetura finished 28th in 5:43.65.
Freshman Kaitlyn Stevens was the winner in the 3,000 meter steeplechase with a time of 12:55.96.
Brawner, Rafter, Rodriguez and Taft finished fourth in the 4x400 relay in a time of 4:21.74.
Sophomore Celine Delice was 10th in the discus event with a throw of 27.72 meters. Sophomore Valeria Hernandez was 12th at 26.53 and freshman Abigail McNab was 13rh at 25.90. Junior Abrah Toomey finished eighth in the hammer with a throw of 41.85 meters.
Sophomore Gianna D'Amato won the javelin with a throw of 38.91 meters.
