Kilian Has Record Day at New England Championships on Friday
Junior McKenna Kilian broke five personal records in an impressive performance in the pentathlon.
Central Connecticut's multifaceted junior, McKenna Kilian, led the women's indoor track and field team on the first day of the New England Championships held at Reggie Lewis Track and Athletic Center in Boston, MA. Kilian had a record day, setting five new personal best marks in the pentathlon event.
The junior won her 60 meter hurdles heat with a blistering time of 9.52 seconds, besting her old fastest time of 9.74 seconds. Kilian nabbed another personal record in the high jump with a height of 1.63 meters, topping her previous best mark of 1.56 meters.
Fueled with momentum, Kilian recorded collegiate bests in the long jump (5.41 meters), the 800 meter run (2:24.09), en route to scoring a new highest pentathlon score of 3,483 points, surpassing her old point total of 3,232 points.
Freshman Angie Rafter and sophomore Megan Brawner also got in on personal record action. Rafter ran a personal best 800 meter time of 2:18.82 for CCSU and Brawner edged her old best 1,000 meter run time of 3:03.32 with a new mark of 3:03.19 on Friday.
Central Connecticut will resume action tomorrow morning with the 60 meter hurdles featuring sophomore Hailey Rospierski at 12:50 p.m.
