Women's Track Closes Out at ECAC Championships, Sunday

Junior Melissa Wolliston ran a collegiate best time of 1:01.56 in the 400m hurdles, placing 12th overall to highlight the Central Connecticut women's track and field performances on Sunday, May 14th at the ECAC Championships. Wolliston passed up her old fastest time of 1:02.33 set last weekend at the 2017 Northeast Conference Championships. 

Up north, sophomore Madeline Mondo ran for Central at the 2017 New England Champonships at Williams College in Williamstown, MA. Mondo placed 10th in the 3,000m steeplechase with a time of 11:08.21.

The junior also finished 15th in the 100m hurdles with a time of 14.60s. Senior Sarah Hicks clocked in at 14.95s just short of breaking her personal record time of 14.44s. Rookie Hailey Rospierski was the third Blue Devil to compete in the 100H, and finished in 15.12s. 

Following Wolliston in the 400m hurdles was sophomore Sierra Nesmith who checked in at 1:02.84 in 28th place. 

The women's 4x100m relay team of Hicks, freshmen Erica Snape, Wileshka Samuel, and senior Sherise Truman finished in 14th place at 47.69s. Samuel represented CCSU in the 100m dash, taking 17th with a time of 12.38s. 

The 200m dash featured Truman who also took 17th place out of the ECAC field of competitors with a final time of 25.79s.

On Friday on the opening ECAC Championships, junior Brittany Mendelson finished in eighth place at 35:38.79 surpassing CCSU's Krisztina Dearborn's four year old outdoor 10,000 meter run record of 35:49.81 ('13). Sophomore Dawn Hubbell ran a collegiate best time of 36:32.81 to place 14th overall.
