Women's Indoor Track Earns All-NEC Honors
Five Central Connecticut women's indoor track members earn All-NEC honors.
The Northeast Conference announced the all-conference selections for the 2017 women's indoor track and field season in a release on Wednesday afternoon. Central, who finished fourth at this year's championships, had five All-NEC selections. The Blue Devils tabbed a pair of representatives named to All-NEC First Team, one to All-NEC Second Team, and two on the All-NEC Third Team.
Senior Brittany Mendelson and sophomore Sierra Nesmith each earned gold medals at the 2017 indoor championships in transit to being selected on the All-NEC First Team. Mendelson won her second straight 3,000 meter run title with a time of 10:05.04, and Nesmith topped the field in the triple jump jumping a distance of 11.53 meters.
Sophomore 60 meter hurdle school record-holder (8.72), Melissa Wolliston, was honored on the All-NEC Second Team with a runner-up finishing time of 8.76 at this year's 60H finals.
Picking up a pair of All-Rookie Team accolades for CCSU were freshmen, Hailey Ropierski (high jump), and Valeria Hernandez (weight throw).
