Wolliston Sets New School Record, Women's Track and Field Compete at NEICAAA Championships
Wolliston set a new 60 meter hurdle school record on Saturday at the New England Indoor Finals.
Senior Melissa Wolliston took home bronze in the 60 meter hurdle finals on Saturday, Feb. 25 at the NEICAAA Indoor Championships, along with a brand new Central Connecticut school record. Wolliston crossed the finish line at 8.68 (Watch it here), breaking her previous school record time of 8.72 set back on Jan. 14, at the 35th Yale Collegiate Invitational. Prior to the finals Wolliston also ran a 8.68, taking first place in the semis.
Freshman Megan Brawner finished sixth overall in the 1,000 meter run, clocking in at 3:00.38. Friday, Feb. 24, Brawner ran a personal best time of 3:00.34 in the preliminary race.
Senior Sarah Hicks rounded out the Blue Devil performances in the 60 meter hurdles, placing ninth in the prelims with a time of 8.96.
The Central Connecticut women's track and field team will retake the competition field on March 4-5 at Boston U. at the IC4A/ECAC Championships.
