Mendelson Leads Women's NEC Outdoor Track & Field Selections
Trio of Blue Devils earn All-NEC honors.
Sophomore Brittany Mendelson earned a pair of First Team All-Conference honors and was named the NEC Women's Outdoor Most Most Outstanding Track Performer (Distance) for the 2016 Northeast Conference outdoor track and field season in a release by the league office on Tuesday. Mendelson headlined a group of three individuals to earn All-NEC selections for the Blue Devils, who finished sixth at this year's NEC Outdoor Track and Field Championships, which was hosted at CCSU.
Mendelson picked up a pair of first place finishes in the women's 1500 meter and the 5000 meter runs en route to earning All-NEC First Team accolades in each event.
Freshman Sierra Nesmith was the lone Blue Devil on the All-NEC Second Team after placing second in the triple jump with a leap of 11.49 meters. Nesmith earned All-Rookie recognition in the triple jump and also in the 400 meter hurdles.
Freshman Madeline Mondo joined Nesmith on the All-Rookie Team. Mondo was the top rookie finisher in the Steeple Chase, turning in a time of 11:39.76.
