Women’s Indoor Track and Field Slotted Third in NEC Preseason Poll
The CCSU women's indoor track and field team was predicted to finish third this season in the annual NEC preseason coaches poll.
The Central Connecticut women's indoor track and field team was picked to finish third at the 2016 Northeast Conference Indoor Championships in a vote among the league's head coaches in the NEC Coaches Poll released by the conference front office on Friday afternoon. Central finished seventh at the NEC Championships in 2014 before finishing third last year with 64 total points.

Sacred Heart, the 2015 NEC Champion, was picked to repeat as champions in the poll earning eight first place votes. LIU Brooklyn was predicted to finish runner-up and received the remaining two first place votes.
Central was slotted third ahead of Saint Francis U, Wagner, Mount St. Mary's, Robert Morris, Fairleigh Dickinson, Bryant and St. Francis Brooklyn to round out the ten team NEC field.
Central will compete for the title as the NEC Championships move to a new venue this season after 16 seasons at Prince George's Sports and Learning Complex in Landover, MD. This year the NEC Championships will be held at the brand new Ocean Breeze Complex in Staten Island, NY on Feb 19-20.
The CCSU women's indoor track and field team opens the 2016 season this weekend on Saturday, Jan. 9 at the Yale Collegiate Invite held at Coxe Cage in New Haven, CT. The field events will begin at 9 a.m. and the track events will begin at 11:30 a.m.
