Kilian Takes Fourth in Pentathlon at Elm City Challenge
Freshman McKenna Kilian took fourth place in the pentathlon in her first indoor meet as a Blue Devil on Friday afternoon.
Freshman McKenna Kilian placed fourth in the pentathlon in her first indoor track and field meet as a member of the Central Connecticut women's indoor track and field team on Friday at the Elm City Challenge hosted by Southern Connecticut in New Haven, CT. Kilian scored 3,019 points to earn the top-five finish in her first collegiate indoor meet.
Kilian opened the pentathlon with a fifth place finish in the 55 meter hurdles breaking the tape with a time of 9.48. She then followed that up with a sixth place finish in the high jump clearing 1.54 meters.
The rookie then collected another sixth place result after she launched the shot put to the 8.91 meter mark before registering a fourth place finish in the long jump by leaping to 4.98 meters. Kilian concluded the pentathlon with a fourth place finish in the 800 meter run. She crossed the finish line with a time of 2:32.13 to earn the result and tally 3,019 points over the course of the five events.
Sacred Heart's Nicole Bartosch won the pentathlon setting a new meet record with a final score of 3,744 points. She was followed by a pair of Dartmouth athletes in second and third in Maria Garman (3,651) and Miranda Lawson (3,237). Kilian was fourth with 3,019 points and Adelphi's Emily Hagarty (2,921) rounded out the top-five. There were seven competitors in total in the pentathlon at the Elm City Challenge.
