Women's Track Completes Day One at NECs
Day Two takes place on Sunday
The Central Connecticut women's track and field team completed the first day of the 2015 Northeast Conference Women's Track and Field Championship on Saturday. Central sits in ninth place after the first day.
Senior Krisztina Dearborn picked up four points for the Blue Devils in the 10,000 meter run with a fifth place finish and a time of 37:52.65.
Sophomore Melissa Wolliston qualified for Sunday's final in the 100 meter hurdles with a time of 14.67, the fourth fastest qualifying time of the day. Sophomore teammate Sarah Hicks also qualified for Sunday's final with a time of 15.14, grabbing the eighth and final qualifying spot.
Wolliston will also run in the finals of the 400 meter hurdles on Sunday, qualifying with a time of 1:03.54, the second fastest time of the day.
The 4x800 meter relay team grabbed five points with a fourth place finish on Saturday with a time of 9:38.36.
Sophomore Sherise Truman narrowly missed qualifying for the finals of the 100 meter dash, running 12.67 and finishing the the ninth spot. She missed the final qualifying spot by just .01 seconds. She also finished 13th in the qualifying for the 200 meter with a time of 25.87
Junior Chelse Terry finished just outside the scoring in the discus event, throwing 38.52 meters and finishing ninth overall.
