NEC Tabs Saunders Rookie of the Week

Ronea Saunders earns first NEC honor of the outdoor season.

Central Connecticut freshman jumper Ronea Saunders earned her first Northeast Conference Rookie of the Week honor of the outdoor track & field season Tuesday afternoon. Saunders won the high jump for the second consecutive meet posting a height of 1.75m at the UMASS Spring Invitational.

The first year Blue Devil won the high jump prior to the UMASS Invite clearing her personal best height of 1.75m at the AIC Yellow Jacket Invite. Saunders also claimed victory at the New England Indoor Championships posting the same 1.75m mark. Saunders will look to break a conference record and claim an individual title if she can duplicate her 1.75m mark at the NEC Outdoor Championships.
