Central Connecticut swimming and diving newcomer Jewelle Maziarz was named the Northeast Conference Rookie of the Week on Wednesday. She also was tabbed as an NEC Prime Performer.

Maziarz captured both diving events at the Connecticut Cup, helping the Blue Devils to the team title.  Maziarz opened the competition on the 1-meter board, capturing top honors with a score of 239.25, and leading a 1-2-4 effort from the Blue Devils. On Saturday she won the high board, totalling 229.65 points.

The Blue Devils will send a contingent to the CSCAA Open Water Championship on December 18, and the full team will be back in action on January 20 when it hosts a dual meet with Sacred Heart.
