Swimming Falls to UConn, Tops Southern in Saturday Meet
Blue Devils topped SCSU 174-103 on the afternoon
The Central Connecticut swimming and diving team split a tri-meet on the road at the University of Connecticut on Saturday, falling 164-82 to the Huskies and topping Southern Connecticut 174-103.
The Blue Devils began the meet with a fourth and fifth place finish in the 200 yard medley relay. The team, of freshman Jeannette King, freshman Mariana Espino, junior Valentina Gomez and senior Kaitlyn Troy touched the wall in 1:49.38 to lead CCSU.
Freshman Katie Czulewicz finished fourth in the 200 yard freestyle in a time of 1:59.23. Junior Grace Regan was seventh in 2:02.23 and senior Aidan Devers finished eighth in 2:02.77.
King won the 100 yard backstroke in a time of 58.60, the only swimmer to break the one minute mark. Junior Alex Fredricks finished second in 1:00.56, while freshman Hallie Perrin was fourth in 1:02.53 and Troy was fifth in 1:04.04.
Freshman Alex Lindgren finished fifth in the 100 yard breaststroke in 1:08.50, while Espino was fifth in 1:08.52 and sophomore Katelyn Mann finished seventh in 1:11.71.
Gomez finished third in the 200 yard butterfly with a time o 2:08.03. Troy was fifth in the 50 freestyle in 25.63.
King was fifth in the 100 yard freestyle with a time of 54.45, while Czulewicz was sixth in 55.44. Perrin finished eighth in 57.39.
Devers finished second in the 200 yard backstroke with a time of 2:06.92. Fredricks was third in 2:09.40 and junior Ivy Milne finished sixth in 2:26.49.
Lindgren finished third in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:25.61. Gomez finished third in the 500 yard freestyle in a time of 5:13.88.
Sophomore Erin Brown finished fourth in the 100 butterfly with a time of 1:04.95, while junior GRace Fredricks was fifth in 1:05.72 and Perrin was sixth in 1:05.81.
Devers won the 400 yard IM with a time of 4:42.00 and Regan was second in 4:54.19. The 400 yard freestyle relay team of Czulewicz, Troy, Gomez and King placed first with a time of 3:41.76.
