Durham Wins 1 Meter, Swimming and Diving in Third Place After Day Two
Durham wins 1 meter dive event for the second straight year
Senior Annemarie Durham won the 1 meter diving event for the second straight season, edging out Bryant's Stephanie Jennings on the final dive of the night, with a score of 251.85. Durham also won the 1 meter event last year when she was named the Diver of the Meet. As a team the Blue Devils sit in third place overall after day two with a score of 193.
Bryant leads the pack with 289 points, followed by Wagner at 280, then CCSU. Saint Francis is fourth with 181 points, then LIU Brooklyn, Sacred Heart, St. Francis Brooklyn and Mount Saint Mary's.
Junior Aidan Devers begin the night for the Blue Devils with a second place finish in the 500 freestyle. She posted a time of 4:57.61 to earn 17 points. Sophomore teammate Gracie Regan was fifth in the same event with a time of 4:59.56, and sophomore Valentina Gomez was seventh in 5:01.08. Central earned 54 total points in the event.
Senior Maddy Garber finished sixth in the 200 yard IM with a time of 2:05.79, earning 13 points for the Blue Devils.
Senior Lauren Czulewicz was ninth in the 50 yard freestyle with a time of 23.92 in the B final, earning nine points. Junior Kaitlyn Troy was 12th in the event with a time of 24.29.
The Blue Devils finished fifth in the 200 yard freestyle event with a time of 1:36.00. The team of Czulewicz, Troy, sophomores Alexis Fredricks and Grace Fredricks picked up 28 points in the event.
The third day of the championships begin at 10 a.m. on Friday when the teams will compete in the 400 IM, 100 yard butterfly, 200 yard freestyle, 100 yard breaststroke, 100 yard backstroke and the 400 medley relay.
