Blue Devils Finish Day One at Frank Elm Invitational
Devers leads the Blue Devils with an 8th place finish in the 500 free
The Central Connecticut women's swimming and diving team finished the first night at the Frank Elm Invitational at Rutgers University. The Blue Devils sit in seventh place in the 14-team field, posting 132 points on the first night of action. The Invitational will continue through Sunday.
Central began the night with a 15th place finish in the 200 yard freestyle relay. The team of senior Lauren Czulewicz, sophomore Erika Maercklein, junior Kaitlyn Troy and senior Maddy Garber swam a time of 1:37.34.
Junior Aidan Devers finished eighth in the A final in the 500 yard freestyle. She swam a time of 5:01.63. Sophomore Valentina Gomez swam 5:06.07 and finished eighth in the B final, good for 16th overall.
Garber finished first in the C final in the 200 yard individual medley with a time of 2:06.67.
Czulewicz finished fourth in the D final of the 50 yard freestyle with a time of 24.08. She was 28th overall.
The 400 medley relay team of Troy, Garber, Gomez and Czulewicz finished seventh overall with a time of 3:49.26. The group of Devers, Maercklein, sophomore Grace Fredricks and sophomore Grace Regan finished 22nd with a time of 3:56.47.
The action continues on Saturday during the second day of the Frank Elm Invitational.
