Gomez Earns Second Consecutive Swimmer of the Week Honor on Tuesday
Sophomore won three individual events and one relay over the weekend
Central Connecticut sophomore swimmer Valentina Gomez was named the Northeast Conference Swimmer of the Week for the second consecutive week on Tuesday.
Gomez made it back-to-back NEC Swimmer of the Week accolades after racking up three individual race wins in a tri-meet against Bryant and Wagner.
The sophomore continued her dominance in the 100 and 200 butterfly as well as the 1650 freestyle, posting times in each event that are all faster than any NEC swimmer this season. Gomez touched in 2:06:22 in the 200 butterfly, more than four seconds faster than the runner-up, and her 1650 finish of 17:43.63 bested the field by over seven seconds.
Gomez, who hails from Harrisonburg, VA, was also first to touch the wall in the 100 butterfly, clocking in at 58.42 seconds. In addition, she helped the Blue Devils set a pool record time in winning the 400 medley relay (3:55.22).
