Blue Devils Finish Day Three at Frank Elm Invite; Garber Posts NCAA B Time Again
CCSU finishes seventh overall out of 10 teams
Sophomore Maddy Garber posted her second NCAA 'B' cut time in as many days and finished second in the 200 yard breaststroke on the third and final day of the Frank Elm Invitational at Rutgers University on Sunday.
The Blue Devils finished seventh in the 10 team field with 691 points.
Garber's time of 2:15.95 in the 200 breast was good for second place overall and was her second NCAA 'B' cut time in as many days. She also posted a B cut time in the 100 breaststroke on Saturday in both the prelims (1:02.17) and finals (1:02.43). Freshman teammate Kailey Demers was 17th in the same race, finishing first in the C final with a time of 2:19.69, more than four seconds ahead of the next finisher. Her time was six seconds faster than her qualifying time and would have placed second in the B final.
Freshman Aidan Devers placed fifth in the 200 yrd backstroke on Sunday with a time of 2:02.09. Sophomore teammate Maeve Awiszus was 21st in the same race with a time of 2:06.82.
Junior Christine Rasile also placed fifth for the Blue Devils. Her fifth place finish came in the 100 yard freestyle in a time of 51.51. Sophomore Lauren Czulewicz was 17th in the same race in a time of 51.98. She placed first in the C final. Sophomore Lauren Rasile was 22nd in a time of 52.60.
Junior Sabree Thomas was 21st in the 200 butterfly with a time of 2:09.00 while senior Seleen Chilton was 22nd at 2:10.66. Junior Lisa Ward finished 28th with a time of 2:10.08.
The Blue Devils completed the weekend with a 12th place finish in the 400 yard freestyle relay. The team of freshman Kaitlyn Troy, Lauren Czulewicz, Lauren Rasile and Christine Rasile posted a time of 3:36.23.
