CCSU Excels on Day One of Blue Devil Duals
The Central Connecticut swimming & diving team wrapped up day one of this weekend's Blue Devil Duals.
The Central Connecticut swimming & diving team wrapped up day one of this weekend's Blue Devil Duals on Friday. The meet will continue in New Britain on Saturday.
In the 50 yard freestyle, sophomore Helene Neuhaus took first place completing the event in a time of 24.74. Junior Katie Lang finished fifth (25.74) and senior Kristen Malski finished eighth (26.79).
The women's 500 yard freestyle was won by junior Allison Rasile who finished first with a time of 5:14.36.Junior Christine Smith finished second (5:18.82), and freshman Karen Novak finished third (5:20.85).
Junior Hannah Packer placed third (2:10.78) in the 200 yard backstroke. Freshman Kaylin Sylvester finished seventh (2:23.35) and senior Kelly Kreho finished eighth (2:24.23).
In the 200 yard breaststroke, sophomore Kristina Gulia finished first (2:26.74). Senior Alex Czaplicki finished tied for third (2:31.25) and senior Shauna Lynch finished seventh (2:39.49).
Junior Taylor Friedmann took first place (2:07.74) in the 200 yard butterfly. Junior Lauren O'Kelly finished third (2:15.69) and sophomore Kathryn Kiely finished seventh (2:21.53).
In the 200 yard freestyle relay, Friedmann, Lang, Neuhaus, and Czaplicki finished first (1:39.43).
The 800 yard freestyle relay was topped by the team of Friedmann, Lang, Rasile, and Novak (8:00.11).
Senior Madison Vestergaard and freshman Kaitlyn Dwyer were the Blue Devil divers at the event. Vestergaard scored a 178.25, that was the top mark in the one meter board. Dwyer scored a 127.95, good for fourth place.
Day two of the Blue Devil Duals will take place on Saturday, October 15th in the Jack Sudyam Natatorium in New Britain.
