Trio of Blue Devils Invited to 2022 NEWISA Senior Bowl
The Central Connecticut women's soccer team had three receive an invitation to the 2022 New England Women's Intercollegiate Soccer Association (NEWISA) Division I Senior Bowl it was announced. Roma McLaughlin was the leading vote-getter among midfielders, while Delaney Lawler and Zoe McGlynn also earned an invite.

Roma McLaughlin was the leading vote-getter among midfielders, while Delaney Lawler and Zoë McGlynn also earned an invite.
McLaughlin capped her decorated career in 2022, earning United Soccer Coaches All-Region honors for the fourth time last week. The four-time Northeast Conference Midfielder of the Year was also the Blue Devils' first two-time All-American. McLaughlin, who was named to the United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division I Women's Players to Watch list and the 2022 MAC Hermann Trophy Watch List prior to the season, anchored the CCSU midfield as she scored three goals and helped the Blue Devils win a fifth straight NEC regular season crown. A five-time All-NEC First Team selection, she finished her career with 28 goals and 13 assists for 69 points in 74 career games.
Lawler, who also earned All-Region honors last week, helped CCSU's defense rank second in the NEC in goals against average (1.00) and shutouts (8) en route to earning First Team All-NEC honors. In 50 career contests, she added a goal and an assist. Lawler was also named to the College Sports Communicators Acaademic All-District Team.
McGlynn helped solidify the Blue Devils' midfield, starting in 10 games and making 11 appearances overall. She contributed an assist in a win at Howard. The 2021 NEC Tournament MVP and a 2020-21 All-NEC FIrst Team pick, McGlynn appeared in 37 career games and contributed a goal and four assists.
The NEWISA Senior Bowl brings together players from NCAA Division I, II and III colleges in New England for one final game following the conclusion of their last collegiate season. NEWISA Senior Bowl eligibility is open to all players who will graduate from undergraduate studies during the 2022-2023 academic year and any graduate student playing a final season this current school year.
