Murphy Named Co-Defensive Player of the Week
Caitlin Murphy of the Central Connecticut women's soccer team was named the Northeast Conference Women's Soccer Co-Defensive Player of the Week.
Caitlin Murphy of the Central Connecticut women's soccer team was named the Northeast Conference Women's Soccer Co-Defensive Player of the Week. She was also named a Prime Performer alongside her teammates Kelly Brady and Aoife Horgan. It was announced on Monday by the league office.
Murphy, a Southbury, CT native, recorded six straight shutouts with a 3-0 win over Merrimack. She made a total of eight saves over two games this week for CCSU (Four against Merrimack and four against FDU).
Brady scored the game winning goal against Merrimack and had two assists, one in each of CCSU's contests, earning her a spot on the NEC Prime Performer list.
Horgan was also named a Prime Performer after scoring twice in CCSU's 3-0 win over Merrimack, securing herself a brace.
CCSU will face off against Sacred Heart on Sunday at Park Ave. Field in Fairfield, CT at 12:00pm.
