Bardes Earns CoSIDA Women's Soccer Academic All-District
Erica Bardes of the Central Connecticut women's soccer team was named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District Team it was announced on Thursday.
Bardes, a Montvale, NJ-native, was named a United Soccer Coaches All-America Third Team honoree in 2020-21 and was also the Northeast Conference Women's Soccer Scholar-Athlete of the Year. She was named as one of six CCSU students to receive the President's Citation Award and has been a member of the NEC Commissioner's Honor Roll and Academic Honor Roll throughout her career.
Bardes was recently named the 2021 NEC Defensive Player of the Year after helping the Blue Devils win the league's regular season title. The three-time All-NEC First Team selection helped CCSU win it's fourth consecutive NEC Championship last weekend to qualify for the NCAA Tournament. In 18 games this season she has collected one goal and five assists, while helping anchor the league's top defense with a 0.78 goals against average.
A two-time United Soccer Coaches All-North Region Second Team selection, Bardes has tallied 10 goals and 18 assists in her career. She holds the CCSU career mark with 85 appearances and scored the game-winning goal at Rutgers in the 2019 NCAA Tournament.
The Blue Devils will travel to Georgetown for the NCAA Tournament first round meeting on Saturday, Nov. 13, at Noon.
First Team Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced in early December.
