LOCATION Smithsville, RI
KEY MOMENTS
- CCSU started the game off with some dominant offense, attacking the zone well and sending three shots on goal within the first 12 minutes. After the opening dozen minutes or so, though, the Bulldogs were able to rally and began throwing shots of their own towards CCSU goalkeeper Amanda McQuillan.
- Bryant's Katie Cronin was able to sneak one past McQuillan roughly 20 minutes into the match. This is the first goal McQuillan had given up against an NEC school since a Novemeber 8, 2019 game against Sacred Heart. The Blue Devils won that match 3-1.
- Neither team was able to get much going the rest of the way through the first and Bryant sat with the lead entering half number two.
- The Blue Devils came into the second half with a fire, sending two shots towards Bryant's keeper within the first minute of play.
- CCSU went on to shoot six times in the second half, while the defense shut down any Bryant attack. The Bulldogs did not get a single shot off during the second.
- Tess Atkinson gave CCSU one last chance with a shot in the final four minutes, but ultimately the Blue Devils were unable to send this one to extras.
NOTES
- This is the Blue Devils' first loss from an NEC opponent since an October 3, 2019 game against Fairleigh Dickinson that went to double-overtime.
- CCSU only had two corner kicks in the entire game, which ties a season low for the team.
- The Blue Devil offense did not get the oppurtunities it typically does against NEC opponents, but Bryant's defense has done that in the past. Last season, the Blue Devils were only able to get off 13 shots against the Bulldogs. This total was the team's lowest of the season.
