Women's Soccer Records First Shutout of the Season Against Colgate

Women's soccer recorded its third win in a row on Friday in a 1-0 shutout against Colgate. Junior goalkeeper Amanda McQuillan was lights-out in the performance, making nine saves against the Raiders.

KEY INFORMATION

• The Blue Devils got onto the board right out of the gate against the Raiders. After Colgate's goalkeeper let up a ball, Roma McLaughlin was able to steal it away and send the ball right back in. The score was unassisted and came just over five minutes into the match. McLaughlin now has three goals on the year.
• McLaughlin was almost able to score again in the first. She was awarded a penalty shot in the 34th minute, but sent it just just too high to get in.
• Both teams battled through the rest of the first half. Colgate sent four shots on goal against McQuillan, but thanks to some miraculous saves, the Raiders stayed off the board.
• Colgate had even more oppurtunities in the second half. The Raiders put up eight shots, five of them coming on goal against McQuillan. 
• The Raiders almost had their breakthrough late. With 14 minutes remaining, a shot got sent right off the crossbar. The rebound got sent back out, but was shot out of bounds.
• McQuillan made an impressive save towards the end of the second, blocking the ball with her fingertips to send it out.
