McLaughlin, Wright Earn NEC Weekly Honors
Roma McLaughling was named the NEC Player of the Week.
The Northeast Conference honored women's soccer duo Roma McLaughlin and Ashley Wright with weekly honors, it was announced by the league's office Tuesday afternoon. The pair combined for three goals and two assists last week in Central's shutouts over LIU and Merrimack.
McLaughlin was named the NEC Player of the Week for the second time this season. The sophomore captain tallied twice and posted an assit against Merrimack, the second time she has scored two goals in one match this season. The Greencastle County Donegal, Ireland native leads the team and conference with nine goals (20 points). McLaughlin is averaging a .769 shots on goal percentage and is 2-2 in penalty kicks.
Freshman Ashley Wright was named the NEC Rookie of the Week after scoring her second goal in two games against LIU. The former Staples High School athlete also had an assist in Central's 5-0 win the Merrimack Warriors. She has taken nine shots on the year, including five on goal, which she has scored twice (.222).
The Blue Devils look to win their fifth straight match when they host Robert Morris on Friday, Oct. 25 at noon at CCSU Soccer Field in New Britain, CT.
