Women's Soccer Earns United Soccer Coaches Team Academic Award
The Blue Devils have earned the honor for 17 consecutive years.
The United Soccer Coaches announced its College Team Academic Awards on Thursday and the Central Connecticut women's soccer team was honored for the 17th consecutive year. The honor recognized teams that collected a combined team grade point average of 3.0 or higher during the 2017-18 academic year.
"This award is a testament to the hard work of our student-athletes in the classroom at CCSU," said head coach Mick D'Arcy. "I'd also like to thank Kevin Oliva, Alicia Akers and all of the staff in our Academic Center for Student Athletes. They go above and beyond every day helping our students to maximize their academic potential."
The Blue Devils turned in a cumulative team GPA of 3.32 in 2017-18 and have earned the Team Academic Award each year, dating back to 2002.
Under the direction of D'Arcy, in his 19th season, CCSU has opened the season with a 9-1-2 record, including a 3-0 mark in Northeast Conference play. Central entered the United Soccer Coaches North Region poll this week at No. 10.
The Blue Devils are back in action on Friday, Oct. 5, when they host Sacred Heart at 6:00 p.m. at CCSU Soccer Field.
