Alterisio Named Co-Defensive Player of the Week
Shauny Alterisio receives her first NEC award of the season.
The Northeast Conference honored Central Connecticut women's soccer player junior Shauny Alterisio as a NEC Co-Defensive Player of the Week as announced by league office on Tuesday afternoon.
Alterisio played a key role on the Blue Devil back line that stymied the Robert Morris attack, limiting the Colonials to two shots and zero shots on goal. The Danbury native logged all 90 minutes of the 1-0 shutout victory on Saturday, making it the fifth consecutive clean sheet for the CCSU defense.
Central has posted a league-best seven shutouts on the season and has not allowed a goal over the last 508:26 of play. The Blue Devils have given up just five goals this season, have won six out of their last seven games, and are 16-1-2 in their last 19 NEC home games.
CCSU returns to action Friday, Sept. 28, at 6 p.m. hosting Fairleigh Dickinson in New Britain, CT.
