Pearse Named NEC Women’s Soccer Player of the Week
Danielle Pearse earns NEC Player of the Week after leading CCSU to a 1-0 victory over UMass.
Senior forward Danielle Pearse was named the Northeast Conference Player of the Week it was announced by the league office on Monday. Pearse led the Blue Devils' offense and scored the match's only goal on Sunday night when CCSU defeated A10 rival UMass, 1-0.
Pearse had two shots during the game and scored off a touch pass from freshman Roma McLaughlin inside the box in the 17th minute. It was Pearse's 11th career goal and sixth career game-winner.
With the victory, CCSU has won three of its last four season-openers, including shutouts of UMass in each of the last two years. Central returns to action Thursday, Aug. 23, when it faces UConn in Storrs, CT, in a 7:00 p.m. contest.
