Cafferky Named to United Soccer Coaches All-East Region
Cafferky was a four-time NEC Defensive Player of the Year.
Senior Jennifer Cafferky was named to the United Soccer Coaches All-East Region Second Team it was announced. The honor is the latest for Cafferky who capped her career as the four-time Northeast Conference Defensive Player of the Year.
Cafferky anchored a Central defense that set a program-record, allowing just two goals in conference play, while also posting 10 shutouts to lead the league. She is the first student-athlete in league history to be named Defensive Player of the Year four times, joining Tessa McKibben (Player of the Year, 2010-2013) of Saint Francis U as the only players to earn four consecutive major awards. She led a backline that posted six straight clean sheets in league play, while also scoring a game-winning goal in the Blue Devils' victory at Rhode Island this season.
In her four seasons, she started 66 of 67 career games and helped CCSU post a total of 33 shutouts in that span. Offensively, she scored six goals, including three game-winners.
The Blue Devils completed the 2017 season with a 10-8 record overall and 6-2 in NEC play.
