Wagner Pays Visit to New Britain Friday to Take On Women's Soccer

The Central Connecticut women's soccer team looks to extend its three-game winning streak on Friday, Oct. 20 against the Wagner Seahawks at CCSU Soccer Field in New Britain, CT. The Blue Devils and the Staten Island crew will kick off at 7:00 p.m. The match will not be streamed on NEC Front Row.

GAME NOTES
The Series • The Blue Devils hold a convincing 22-1-1 advantage in the all-time series record with the Seahawks who are winless and have yet to score a goal in league play.
Last Meeting • Last year CCSU took down Wagner 1-0 on the road on an early first half goal from sophomore Carla Jackson.
Most Recently • Central went 2-0 last weekend as they top both Keystone State NEC members, Saint Francis U. and Robert Morris. The Blue Devils retired the defending champion Red Flash on a golden goal with 1:15 to go in a double-overtime thriller at home off of the foot of freshman Jenna Rae Covello. CCSU then topped RMU 1-0 again in dramatic fashion with 2:27 left in regulation on a goal from junior Lexi Kochin. Wagner most recently fell to SFU 2-0 in Lorretto, PA.
Headliners • Sophomore Shauny Alterisio and Covello were recognized by the Northeast Conference as the NEC Defensive Player and Rookie of the Week for their impressive work in both shutout wins last weekend.
Standings • CCSU is currently in a two way tie with Bryant for third place in the NEC at 3-2 with just three regular season contests left before the NEC Tournament field is finalized. The Blue Devils are tied for second in league play in goals against, only surrendering two through five games. Junior keeper Ashley Cavanaugh is tied for first in shutout rankings with three straight.
