Women's Soccer's Cafferky and Tachibana Earn UWS All-Conference
The Blue Devils open the season at UMass on Aug. 18.
Senior Jennifer Cafferky and Yo Tachibana of the Central Connecticut women's soccer team earned United Women's Soccer All-Conference honors it was announced by the league on Friday. Cafferky and Tachibana earned First Team honors in the East and Midwest Conferences, respectively. Cafferky, Tachibana and the Blue Devils will open the season at Massachusetts on August 18.
Cafferky, of the New England Mutiny, played in nine games and recorded one assist, while helping anchor a defense that posted four shutouts. The Mutiny posted a 7-3-0 record and finished third in the East Conference.
Cafferky is a three-time Northeast Conference Defensive Player of the Year. In 51 career games, the All-NEC performer has scored five goals, while helping anchor the CCSU defense.
Tachibana, who played for FC Indiana, was named to the All-Midwest Conference First Team. A midfielder, Tachibana played in nine games and accounted for two goals and an assist helping the club to a fourth-place standing in the Midwest Conference.
Tachibana joins the Blue Devils after transferring from Florida State, where she played in four games as a freshman. She has participiated at several U-16 and U-17 national team camps and made three appearances at the AFC U-16 Women's Championship in China in 2013.
The Blue Devils tied for the Northeast Conference regular season title last season and will open the 2017 campaign at Massachusetts on August 18.
