Jackson, Cipriano to Play in Senior Bowl
Game to be held at Merrimack College on Dec. 4
Central Connecticut women's soccer seniors Brittany Jackson and Jillian Cipriano have been selected to represent the Blue Devils in the New England Women's Intercollegiate Soccer Association Senior Bowl in 2011.
The game is scheduled to be played at Merrimack College on December 4 at 11 a.m. The game will feature a team of Division I players against a team comprised of both Division II and III players. All of the players will come from a college in New England.
Jackson and Cipriano recently completed their playing careers for the Blue Devils in 2011. They were the lone seniors on the team this season.
Jackson was one of two captains for the Blue Devils in 2011. She finished second on the team in scoring wih four goals and one assist, good for nine points. She had a hat trick in a 3-2 home victory over Albany on Sept. 16. She earned an All-Conference selection following her sophomore season in 2009.
Cipriano finished third on the team with three goals in her final season. Her six points were third on the team. Her three goals were a career-high.
"When Brittany and Jillian both scored in their final game I thought that was a great way to finish their careers at CCSU," head coach Mick D'Arcy said. "Being selected to play in the New England Senior Bowl further validates the tremendous impact they both had on our program for the last four years. I'm thrilled for both of them."
Both Jackson and Cipriano scored in their final game in a Central uniform. In a 4-2 win over Quinnipiac in the season finale, each scored in the second half. Jackson's goal was the game-winner.
