Women's Soccer Ends Season with Win
Seniors Brittany Jackson and Jillian Cipriano finished their careers with goals in a 4-2 victory.
Seniors Brittany Jackson and Jillian Cipriano capped their Central Connecticut soccer careers with a victory on Friday night. Both seniors scored a goal in the second half of the Blue Devils 4-2 victory over Quinnipiac. The victory sets Central's final record for the 2011 campaign at 5-7-5 and 2-5-3 in Northeast Conference play.
Central struck first in the match, freshman Julie Lavoie delivered the opening goal 28 minutes into the first half. Quinnipiac answered quickly with a goal off of a free kick in the 30th minute. The game remained tied at the half.
After the half the Central seniors delivered the Blue Devils the lead. Cipriano scored in the 52nd minute with the help of sophomore Nikki Kureczka.
Eight minutes later, Jackson delivered a goal off of the rebound of a shot by sophomore Allison Kelley. That goal made the score 3-1.
Quinnipiac added a second goal off the foot of Crystal Burns in the 72nd minute, but Central answered.
Freshman Christina Boucher netted the final score of the game off of a crossing pass from Lavoie. The Blue Devils held onto the two goal lead for the 4-2 victory.
Sophomore Nikola Deiter recorded six saves in the net for the Blue Devils. She earned the victory and improved her record in the net to 5-7-5 on the season.
