Women's Soccer Drops OT Game at Monmouth
Sophomore Nikki Kureczka scores first career goal
Sophomore Nikki Kureczka scored the first goal of her career, but the Central Connecticut women's soccer team dropped a 2-1 double overtime decision on the road at Monmouth on Sunday.
With the loss the Blue Devils are now 4-7-5 overall and 1-5-3 in Northeast Conference play. The overtime game was the eighth of the season for the Blue Devils.
The teams played a scoreless first half, and the Hawks took a 1-0 lead at 69:43 in the second half on the sixth goal of the season from Courtney Snyder.
Kureczka tied the game in the 87th minute, her first of the season and the first of her career, and sent the game into overtime.
After a scoreless first overtime, Monmouth's Carly Yost scored her first goal of the season to give the Hawks their 10th win on the year.
Central's Nikola Deiter made four saves in net in the game. Monmouth's Jocelyn McCoy made nine saves to earn the victory. The Blue Devils outshot the Hawks 10-6 in shots on goal.
The Blue Devils will end their season at home, this Friday night, hosting Quinnipiac at Willow Brook Park beginning at 7 p.m.
