Deiter Honored by NEC on Monday

Sophomore goalkeeper Nikola Deiter was named the adidas/Northeast Conference women's soccer Defensive Player of the Week on Monday. Deiter is the first Blue Devils to be honored by the league this season.
The sophomore keeper was stellar in net for the Blue Devils against the Patriot League's preseason favorite Cadets from Army on Friday night.
Deiter made an impressive 14 saves in 110 minutes of action to preserve her seventh career shutout.
Deiter was strong in the two overtimes, stopping four shots, all in the second overtime, to preserve the scoreless tie. She made four saves in the first half and had another six in the second half as the Blue Devils opened their 2011 season.
Deiter, a native of New Castle, Australia, made 18 starts in 2010 in her first season with the Blue Devils. She posted a save percentage of .707.
The Blue Devils return to action on Friday night at 5 p.m. against Providence. The game will be played at Yale.
