Second-Half Rally Falls Short For Lacrosse
Guadio tallies hat trick and Tobler makes 14 saves
The Central Connecticut State lacrosse team rallied in the second-half, but could not draw even, falling 11-7 to Northeast Conference foe Stonehill College, Wednesday afternoon at Arute Field. The Blue Devils fall to 0-9 on the season and 0-3 in league play, while the Skyhawks improve to 5-5 overall and 3-0 in NEC action.
The Blue Devils finished with an 14-9 edge in draw controls and finished with a 22-21 advantage in ground balls for the game. The Blue Devils also committed one fewer foul, 16-15, then the visiting Skyhawks.
CCSU is back in action on Saturday, travelling to Washington, DC to take on NEC opponent Howard University. Game time is 12:00 pm.
KEY MOMENTS
- Stonehill opened the scoring midway through the first-quarter, when Val Beigel netted an 8-meter shot
- Beigel converted another FPS with 3:30 to play in the quarter to make the score 3-0
- Emily LaPia scored from 8-meters 35 seconds into the second quarter to give Stonehill the 4-0 advantage

- Guadio got the Blue Devils going again to open the fourth quarter, completing her hat trick with an 8-meter goal 71 seconds into the period

- The Skyhawks again netted consecutive goals, with 7:11 and 4:45 to play, to push their lead back to five, 11-6
