Women's Lacrosse Falls at Home to Sacred Heart on Sunday
Blue Devils are back in action at home on Friday vs. Saint Francis U
The Central Connecticut women's lacrosse team fell to 2-10 overall and 1-2 in Northeast Conference play with a 17-4 loss at home to Sacred Heart on Sunday afternoon. The win pushes Sacred Heart's record to 2-10 overall and 2-1 in league play.
The Pioneers took a 2-0 lead in the first 13 minutes of the game on goals from Alyssa Pearce and Nicole Holder before the Blue Devils cut the lead to 2-1 on a goal from junior Carson Adelberger, her 10th of the season.
Sacred Heart responded with seven straight goals before the half to take a 9-1 lead at the break. After the lead reached 10-1, senior Kylie Sullivan scored her fourth goal of the week to cut the lead to 10-2. The Pioneers scored five of the last seven goals of the game to win 17-4.
Adelberger, Sullivan, sophomore Alegra Usher and senior Marissa Cotroneo each scored for the Blue Devils in the loss. Sophomore Morgan Sinton added a pair of assists. Junior Jackie Branthover made seven saves in net for the Blue Devils.
Central returns to action on Friday at 3 p.m. hosting Saint Francis University.
