Women's Lacrosse Stopped at Jacksonville on Wednesday
The Blue Devils return home to host Hofstra on March 23.
The Central Connecticut women's lacrosse team lost, 19-5, at Jacksonville on Wednesday afternoon at D.B. Milne Field. Junior Carson Adelberger and sophomore Morgan Sinton each had two goals to lead the CCSU attack.
The loss drops Central to 1-6 overall, while JU improves to 5-2 on the season.
Sinton opened the game's scoring just over four minutes into the game when she converted a pass from senior Marissa Cotroneo to make it 1-0 CCSU.
JU responded with a string of five unanswered goals to take the lead for good. Lillie Miller scored the last two goals to make it 5-1 at the 13:39 mark.
Sophomore Molly Coogan would snap the Dolphins' scoring run with a goal at 12:01. Senior Kylie Sullivan assisted on the score.
The Dolphins would score three goals before halftime to take an 8-2 lead at the break. JU scored the first eight goals of the second half in the opening 14:01 of the period.
Central would score when Sinton took a feed from Sullivan with 13:50 to play. Adelberger would convert an unassisted goal just over a minute later.
Following a JU goal, Adelberger would get her second of the day with 4:10 remaining. The Dolphins closed out the scoring with two goals in the final two minutes.
Sophomore Keeley Henry had six groundballs and a caused turnover for the CCSU defense. Sophomore Megan Szawlowski had a team-high two draw controls.
Junior Jackie Branthover started in goal for CCSU and made six saves. Freshmen Meaghan Allard and Cooper Cowdin also played and made four and one save, respectively.
The Blue Devils return home to host Hofstra on Friday, March 23. The game is slated for a 7:00 p.m. start.
