Women's Lacrosse Just Short on the Road at Siena, 10-8
Ruberti and Coogan each score three times on Friday
Sophomores Cameron Rubert and Molly Coogan each scored three times but the Central Connecticut women's lacrosse team dropped a 10-8 road decision at Siena on Friday afternoon. The loss drops the Blue Devils to 1-4 on the season as they head to Florida next week for games at Stetson and Jacksonville. Junior goalkeeper Jackie Branthover made eight saves in goal for the Blue Devils in the loss.
The Blue Devils fell behind 4-1 in the first 15 minutes of the first half, but an explosive run before halftime have CCSU a 6-4 lead at the break. Coogan scored twice during the run.
The Saints scored three straight to start the second half to take a 7-6 lead before Coogan's third goal of the game at 20:31 tied it for the fourth time. Following another Siena goal Ruberti scored her third goal to make it 8-8 with 13:19 to play.
Siena scored the game's final two goals, the last coming with 9:20 left in the second half, to win their second game of the season.
Sophomore Morgan Sinton added a goal and an assist in the game, while Freshman Maya Usher had a goal off the bench.
The Blue Devils return to action on Monday on the road at Stetson beginning at 3 p.m.
