Women's Lacrosse Earns IWLCA Academic Recognition
Four Blue Devils named to IWLCA Zag Sports Academic Honor Roll.
The Central Connecticut women's lacrosse team and four Blue Devils were recognized with IWLCA Zag Sports academic honors it was announced Wednesday. CCSU was named an Academic Honor Squad, while seniors Natalie Decker and Kelsey Murphy and juniors Ashlee Owen and Kylie Sullivan were named to the Academic Honor Roll.

Central was among 308 schools across Division I, II, III and NAIA that were recognized for their work in the classroom. In order to be named an IWLCA Zag Sports Academic Honor Squad a program must attain a 3.0 or higher team GPA for the academic year. The Blue Devils have earned the honor for three consecutive seasons.
In order to be eligible for the IWLCA Zag Sports Academic Honor Roll, student-athletes must be a junior, senior or graduate student and have compiled a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher. This season, 402 student-athletes representing 102 institutions earned the recognition.
Central had 12 student-athletes named to the Northeast Conference Spring Academic Honor Roll, including all four Blue Devils named to the IWLCA Honor Roll. Decker and Sullivan were also named to the NEC Commissioner's Honor Roll for having a GPA of 3.75 or better. The Blue Devils also earned the Northeast Conference Team Sportsmanship Award in their first season under head coach Princess Livingston.
Murphy is a two-time IWLCA Zag Sports Academic Honor Squad honoree. As a senior, she started 13 contests and accounted for 23 ground balls and 11 caused turnovers.
In addition to her honors in the classroom, Decker started all 16 games. Defensively she picked up 28 ground balls and caused 16 turnovers.
Owen and Sullivan each appeared in all 16 games for CCSU. Owen made 12 starts and had 10 ground balls and eight caused turnovers. Sullivan scored 11 goals with 17 assists in starting every game. She added 17 ground balls.
